Transmission > CV Boots, Joints, Drive Shafts
CV boots protect the CV and universal joints of the driveshaft from dirt and grit as well as maintaining a high level of grease on the joint. CV boots need to be flexible and are therefore made of rubber with the downside being that they are venerable to being damaged and split by stone chips
The driveshaft transfers power from your Seat Ibiza engine to your wheels. Front-wheel drive vehicles have the driveshaft at the front, rear wheel drive vehicles have their driveshaft at the back.
CVs transfer a constant speed torque to the wheels as well as support up and down suspension motion. If you manage to identify a damaged CV boot in time, replacing it with a CV boot kit may avert expensive CV joint damage, or even in the worst cases the need to replace a whole drive shaft.
