Leaking radiators have been an issue since engines began. Clogging and blocking are also frequent occurrences. Coolant plays a vital role in avoiding water from internally corroding the cooling system. The substrates in coolant deteriorate over time and therefore need to be replaced.
The heater matrix (most commonly known as a heater radiator) is a small rad situated behind the dashboard of your Seat Ibiza. It aids in producing hot air to the inside of the car. These can become defective or blocked and subsequently leak, causing your coolant level to drop. If so this should be replaced immediately. Wet carpets on the front foot well are a good indication of a leaking heater rad.
Oil coolers cool the oil through a piped system which is run over with coolant. This should be your first port of call should you find coolant in your oil or oil in your coolant which turns the liquid milky. Over time the passages in the cooler can corrode allowing the engine oil and coolant to mix. Carrying out an oil cooler check could save you a lot of expense as these symptoms are normally diagnosed as a head gasket failure.
