My Car > Audi A5 2.0 2010 (diesel)
Suspension setups are a complex maze of rubber cushioned mountings and given they’re designed to absorb the high loads occurring during acceleration, braking, cornering and going over road bumps and potholes to stabilise the vehicle and cushion the engine, gearbox and steering components they are subject to critical levels of strain.
Under the loads acting on the bushing the rubber will crack and deteriorate and this can cause the rubber mount to break and deteriorate. As this can adversely affect you Audi A5 tracking and handling stability and cause vibration leading to secondary problems, the condition of the rubber bushings and mountings are checked as an integral part of every NCT and are a common source of failure.
